Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

For my science fair project I tested the voltage of three fruits. This multimeter didn't say 0 V. It gave me hundredths. That's pretty sensitive I would say. Overall, Very good price. Works great!

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Unit is small, not very accurate. Claims .8% on DCV, but actual measured was 1.6%. Takes a small 12v battery. Good for general purpose measurements not requiring great precision.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Bought unit on sale several years ago. At the time battery cost more than unit on sale. Under occasional use battery has not died yet. In a just curious search it appears the price of battery is much reduced making this unit a good value. Easy to read and use. Wires do require patience to pack away.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Multmeter reads faster than my older one I got 7 years ago, but the problem is that the battery wears out when left on and the battery is hard to find and you need the part number to trace it down.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Good meter, I use it to do test's on electric guitar components.Works just as I need it to. The only downfall is, is that the meter is permanently attached to the carrying case, and it is extremely difficult to wind up the cords and close the case up, if not impossible.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

it is a great meter for use on the boat. I have a bad habbit of dropping things in the water. This meter is accurate enough and inexpensive. If you drop it into the water, not a huge loss. The only draw back is the cost of the battery, a little pricey.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

I have had this meter for over 4 years now. I use it on and off from hobby to work and I am just replacing my first battery. I have never run in to any issues with this and would recommend it over and over again to anyone. YES, it does require a special battery, but in my opinion well worth it. This thing has gotten me through college and is still very practical for work. I take it with me on all of my business trips. If it wasn't for the battery, I would have given this a 5 star.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Not a bad product, but the cover is just barely large enough to fit in the leads. Leads are wired in permanently and the unit itself is integrated into the hinged cover. It would have been nice to just have it come out. Uses a wierd tiny 12v battery but its not expensive. Readout is large and clear.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Purchased for occasional use at work and it was fine the first time but only used 5 minutes. Needed it again the next day but it failed because the battery was dead. Replaced the battery & it failed within 24 hours. Without going into great detail the instrument failure was due to a short between the battery terminals even with the selector switch in the OFF position. This may be a fluke but I've had enough and don't recommend this.

Don't forget the battery!
By Blind RonVerified Reviewer from Houston, Texas on 7/7/2007

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Yea, I too didn't see the "Requires 12v Battery" in the too small print @ the bottom of the package, but the sales person should have alerted me to it. So, another trip to the store. "Needs a battery????" Come on. The last one I purchased a few years back [...] didn't req. a seperate purchase. I'd rather just see the [$] for the price and have it come with one. The case takes some getting used to so it'll close and re-open without tearing it up. Aside from all that, a good little multimeter.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

THE ONLY FAULT I CAN FIND IS WITH THE CASE. PUTTING THE PROBES BACK INTO THE CASE AND HAVE THE CASE LOCK IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. THE CASE WAS NOT WELL DESIGNED.

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

As others have said, this unit requires a battery which is stated NOWHERE ON THE PACKAGE. Nice to be in the middle of something and have to make 2 trips to the store. (edited by moderator) they were trying to sell me a cell phone when they should have told me I needed a battery.

By Bruce W from St. Paul, MN on 10/6/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good performance, Good Value, Reliable

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

For the money, this is a very nice piece of equipment. It's easy to use and the instructions are concise. As far as other buyers complaints THE PACKAGE IS PRINTED "Requires 12V Battery". It's been my experience that unless it says "Battery Included", then the battery is extra. This is a nice little unit, but yes, the battery is extra.

Pros:

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Where I bought mine, the sales associate came up to me and told me that I needed a battery for it. But I do have common sense and know that a multimeter kinda needs a battery to work. Other than that it works great, accurate and anyone can use it. I've had it for about a year now, No problems

By Hardip D from Marietta on 8/8/2006

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

After purchasing this item and getting home only to discover this multimeter comes without a battery. The features on this multimeter seem fairly comparable to other ones. Though performance, ease of use, and reliability will have to wait until a battery is bought. The cheap cost of the multimeter may be offset by the cost of the battery. Will have to see.

By Jerry W from Sulc on 7/10/2006

Comments about RadioShack 15-Range Digital Multimeter:

Have no idea of it's performance or reliabliity: it is powered by a special 12 volt battery that radio shack sells, no where on the outer packaging does it say this. So before I can find out how good it is, I will have to go back to the store & find out if they have the battery, it's cost, & decide whether or not I want to keep this thing.
