I too got this frame as a Christmas present and almost one year to the day it went black but the power light is still on! I called customer service but they said I could send it in for 60 dollars, which is the price I could get another frame. One that might not die in a year!!! [...] I was not satisfied with this frame from the beginning, the pictures did not fill the screen.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Pictures are too distorted.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
I bought this based on price for the grand parents and returned it for a better model. The aspect ratio is 16:9 (widescreen) and does not match most digital cameras. The picture quality was terrible - very low resolution, you could not make out faces in group snapshots. This unit is not even 640x480 which is probably the least usable size. Save your self the disappointment, spend more and get a unit with a 4:3 aspect and 800x600 resolution such as the Smartparts SP800 from RadioShack for [$] on sale.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Bought this last year for my elderly mother as a gift so she could see all her grandkids and family without taking up a bunch of wall space. She loved it. Just put in the card and there ya go. Forget every other feature, very klunky and hard to navagate. Frame lasted 8 months. I am purchasing a new Kodak or Sony this time. I just made the purchase without research last year which I rarely do. Good luck with your choice this year as long as it's not this one.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
It worked nicely for a year, then what happened to other users happened to me: the display went black. I tried to restart and reset, but after 5 minutes, the display went black again!
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
The pictures were great but I would think for[$] you would sure get more then six months use out of it. I got two for Christmas and the other is still going strong....not the same brand of course.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Unlike other users that were able to enjoy this product for 8 months, I was only half as fortunate and enjoyed it for 4 months. Bought this product at the After Thankgsgiving Sales in anticipation of my first born child. First son was born in mid April and started using it then. Screen goes black and if restarted only displays images for a few minutes then goes black again.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
I received this digital frame for Christmas. Thrilled to get it & enjoyed being able to see a slide show of our grandkids. But at the 8 month time frame it quit running as it should. I can turn it on & it will run for 17 minutes & then go blank. The power button is still on but it will not work. Very dissappointed with this product.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Got the frame for christmas and after about 8 months the screen stopped working. It wasn't even being used all the time maybe a total of a month the whole time i had it. Very disappointed The screen is just black now but you can still see the picture faintly in the background if you look REAL CLOSE.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
It only lasted 8 months. It would not display all the images I loaded into it (kept showing the same three over and over). Picture quality was grainy - absolutely no excuse for that with today's technology.
DO NOT BUY THIS!
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
This is just awful. You may only select 1 of 3 speed settings. You cannot change the way the transition rolls into new photos. You cannot randomize the photo display. The resolution is really low & pixelates photos. It feels really "Harsh" when you insert a memory card. Save your money and upgrade to something better.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Like a few other reviews that I see for this item, I also received this for Christmas. It would periodically stop the slide show every few days. Today it just died. The slide show works for a few minutes and then the display goes black. Can restart but it goes black again after a few minutes.
I plan to call the support number Monday, but am not encouraged that a satisfactory resolution will result.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
I received this frame as a gift for Christmas and like several other people after 7 months it died. The picture would become so dark that I thought the frame had turned off. Upon restart the picture would be fine for about 5 minutes, then it becomes dark again. Changing the brightness did nothing to change the problem. When I called the toll free number about the 1 year warranty, I was told that I would have to pay $60 to have it serviced and that it would take 4 - 5 weeks. [...] I liked the frame when it worked, but now it is a big disappointment.
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Received it for Christmas. It was good while it lasted, but 6 month's use is unacceptable for this pricey item. [...]
Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
This was given to us as a gift. It was nice while it lasted, but stopped working after 6 months. :-(

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Says it is "loading" and then shuts off when I insert memory card. Nothing in User's Guide about "loading". Should start slide show when powered on.

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
display automatically turns off after 30-60 sec...have to unplug/replug, then repower, and sometimes it doesn't even work then. I've had it about a month, going to see if I can get a replacement.

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
I got this on sale for [$] just before Christmas. Even at that price, it's not worth the money. Because of the frame's aspect ratio, pictures from almost every digital camera will display with black bars on each side. The picture was also very grainy/blurry. I returned it for a refund and wouldn't recommend it.

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
NO built-in memory. Can NOT be connected to PC for picture download. You MUST buy a [...] memory card, which can add another [$] to the 'price'. The resolution is so low that after viewing 25 pictures (actually viewing them - not just having the pictures as a "background noise") you will definitely get a headache from the eyestrain. The resolution is reminiscent of cheap cameras from about 5-7 years ago. I would price it at about $20.00 - NOT [$], as the RadioShack did.DO NOT BUY IT!

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
This is our first digital frame, so the low resolution was a bit of a shock. The actual resolution seems to be a RS secret - not even in the specs (nor is the screen size). Still learning to use the unit. The unit can be oriented either horizontally or vertically. So must your pictures, and on separate memory cards. But the vertical pictures must be horizontal, with the tops all in one direction. In other words, the frame only shows wide horizontal pictures. If you want to show vertical pictures, you have to turn them horizontal and then turn the frame vertical. I suspect the frame is 480x854 resolution, or 16:9 format - the same as wide screen TV. But most digital cameras seem to take photos in 1.5:1 format, and standard web resolution is 1.33:1. I don't think the far ends of the screen on this unit will get much use. Buy another? Perhaps at the sale price. But I'd look harder at specs like screen resolution and perhaps avoid the 16:9 if given a choice. A nice addition would be to add a USB port so pictures could be uploaded to the memory chip, but this would probably not be cost effective. Just add a chip slot to your PC [...]

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
As the previous reviewer stated you get more pictures on the unit at a lower resolution. Specifications does not list the resolution so I can not determine how low to reduce the resolution to. My pictures are 3008 X 2000 pixels I am sure the display does not approach this level. Maybe 854 X 480 is the magic number

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
The unit does not allow you to load more than 14 photos as indicated in the owners manual. If you give the unit as a gift, you must include the SD card from your camera for the unit to function. After reading the manual for 2 hrs. and experimenting with the controls, I was unable to delete the photos from the units memory. It would only allow you to copy photos. I purchased the unit as a gift for my 88yr. old mother-in-law for Christmas. I was unable to gift the unit to my mother-in-law do to the fact I was unable to delete photos that I used to experiment with. You also need a card reader to transfer any photos you might want to use from your computer. The whole unit is a hassle and the [...] sales person never mentioned all the down sides to the unit.

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
I love it, I was able to scan pictures onto the memory card from a long time ago and so much more and they can add more to the memory card at any time! I was impressed by the picture also. Thanks for the tip on the sizing, that's the only thing I had a little bit of a problem with!

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
Just make sure your photos aspect ratio is 16x9 and black bars will be gone.just use any photo editing software to resize your photo (mine i resize to 854x480) and it will fill the whole screen up. for the price its the best you can get.

Comments about Optimus Optimus™ 7 Digital Photo Frame:
This frame has all the options you need. I found that if you reduce the resolution of your pictures to match the frame you can put more pictures on the internal memory and they still look great.
