Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

bought this for my wife and she loves it. The directions are spot on in our area - (oklahoma city, norman area) - easy to use and navigate the controls - I have played with it and am very impressed with quality and features. If you want traffic updates get the 310 model - even though it is on the menu this will NOT do the traffic updates as it does not have the TMC antenna port. The end points also show phone numbers for destinations - like having a built-in directory service. Very good product - keep battery charger in your vehicle as you will need it.

These units from Mio are OK as a budget entry, but ONLY if you only need it to last 11 months from DATE OF PURCHASE. Mio customer service are beyond terrible. Units bought on Black Friday will probably fail a week after the warranty expires (Date of purchase). Don't get it for a gift in 11 montyhs you will be without a GPS unit. I had 2 that both failed with problems.

You can't beat this GPS for the money. I got it on sale for under a hundred. Mio will give me a free map update in 2009, as well. The text to speech is very good (a feature often lacking on GPS models in this price range) and is loud and clear. Some of the POIs are a little outdated but a map update is due in a couple of months.

I checked out the Mio web-site today and Canada maps were avabiable, I ordered the maps they will ship after the first of the year. Cost around $80.00.I have no idea why I wasn't informed that the maps would be avabiable by 2009 instead of being told that I needed to purchase more expensive GPS by the Mio representative I talk to on the phone.

I feel that the documentation is weak. There are many screens and features that I've only found by accident. Routes are not always logical. The automatic zoom feature is very beneficial, especially at complicated intersections. The screen is bright and contains plenty of information. A good value, I would definitely buy again.

I have been ripped off by this company and product

I work in the Northern Va - Washington DC area in the service industry. This area is VERY difficult to commute with many "tricky" roads and beltways... This UNIT directs me to my destination perfectly EVERYTIME on a daily basis..........For those of you whom stated in your review that this unit is difficult to operate (or similiar comments), Im guessing you also have trouble heating soup in a microwave! This thing is so easy to operate and ADD destinations! I have been using mine for about a month, I have already installed 3 in our other service trucks!

My sister bought this for me on a Saturday as an early xmas gift, used it one time that day. The next day, I planned on using it for a 2 hour trip; well, it worked for 5 minutes!!!! Yes, that is it! It lost its GPS signal & wouldn't get it back again. I was traveling w/my 2 young kids all alone! I called Mio Tech on Monday, they said that the antennae was broken. They do not have a replacement policy. [...] I will never buy from this company again!

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

We were told when this unit was sold to us 06/2008 that you could download maps of Canada for a price online. But when you go to the Mio site you cannot download maps of Canada yet. I called Mio and emailed them and was told soon I could download the maps of Canada. Still not available as of November so I called Mio again and was told the maps for Canada may never be available for the Moov 300. So I now have think about getting another unit.

I don't blame Radio Shack at all because they can only relay to the customer the information that Mio gives them.

Too bad this is a good unit that works well as long as you stay in the USA but we are going through Canada to New York and Alaska so I wish we had NOT got this unit it was a waste of money for us.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

I am a first time GPS owner, so I have nothing to compare to. With that being said, I was VERY pleased with this unit. I bought it specifically for a trip to a place I wasn't familiar with. It did NOT disappoint! It took me exactly where I wanted to go. The only complaints I would have, it's a little difficult to figure out how to program your multi-stop trip, and I wish it would speak your next turn ahead a little earlier than it does, so you know which lane to get in without having to look at the screen.
Other than that... great item!

I bought this on sale at Radio Shack. It is a good size screen, very easy to use, downloaded other voices (love Daniel, the British male voice!) Just learned how to use multi-trip planning - very useful! Purposely didn't follow directions to check out how it would renavigate, and it did a good job. Great value for the money. Love the text to speech feature and "heads up" instructions.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

I received the Mio Moov 300 as a birthday gift. My reaction was COOL, THANKS (but I was thinking, why would I need or want something like this???) Less than a week later, some friends and I decided to make an impromptu trip to a neighboring state, where we were not familiar with ANYTHING. Even for a non-technical person like me, it was super-simple to figure out how to code addresses into the GPS and to follow the very descriptive prompts. It was WAY better than having to pull over frequently and study a map (or worse yet, try to read a map while driving!) At our destination, we found that we often coded in restaurants & attractions, because it made things so much easier to find using GPS. It attaches/detatches in just seconds, so you can remove it quickly to deter theft. You can effortlessly change it from vehicle to vehicle (we had it in a camper, but it will be used mainly in my car). It's small enough to not be obstructive, but large enough to read easily. The graphics are clear and easy to understand. The "voice" is soothing ... we kind of liked "her" and even gave her a name :o)
This GPS is so useful, I'm now thinking about giving the same kind to both of my sons for Christmas. I was probably one of the best gifts I've ever received!

Very annoying if you just wanna view the map itself. POI alerts shaded out HOw do you even turn this feature on? Can not change angle in 3d? Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

I use this GPS on a paper route. It is the only one I have found so far that gives you a read out of your current address. In the dark sometimes it is hard finding houses that don't have their address shown. This GPS comes in handy because when I am looking for a particular address, it is displayed right on the bottom line! This has eliminated a lot of wasted time driving around, searching for houses.

The address entry portion is a little cumbersome for my liking. You have to enter the city everytime. It doesn't let you search from your current location. There are some other features, like route planner that I haven't figured out yet. Of course, I haven't read the documentation yet, either.

As for the mount, it is pretty cheap. The power cord slides into the bottom of the mount, and then the GPS slides down on top of it. If the power connector isn't quite inserted correctly, it will take a minute or two of playing with both components to get it to sit right. This a major problem as it makes me not want to remove the unit when I park the car. A lot of GPSs are being stolen so it's probably just a matter of time with mine. Spending a minute or two each time I get back into the card to fiddle with getting the charger port connected correctly is just out of the question, though.

All-in-all it is a great value though. As I mentioned I pretty much just use it for the address display on the bottom which saves me over half an hour some mornings when several paper customers are starting, stopping, or going on vacation and I have to locate the house numbers quickly.

I will be returning it soon. Also will not fit the free case that comes with it.

Comments about Mio Mio™ Moov 300 Portable GPS Receiver:

I tested this unit on a recent weekend trip to NYC, first, it couldn't find my street address in DC and my house was built in the 1930's so it isn't because it's in a new development. It also doesn't give exact directions -- it tells you to get on the Garden State Parkway but not whether to take it North or South, not too good if you're not familiar with the area. In NYC it told me to turn left at a "no left turn" intersection. Additionally, I didn't find it incredibly intuitive to use. This is my first GPS but others must be better so I've returned this and will continue the Great GPS Hunt another day.
