This is probably the least expensive 4 channel mixer I could find, which is why I bought it to mix two simple stereo sources. The unit does not come with an AC plug for some odd reason and will eat through a 9V battery pretty quickly. The manual specifically states that the unit should only be powered on when needed but it's a hassle to manually turn it on every time you turn on/off your input devices. If used with an AC adapter I recommend plugging this into a switched outlet on your receiver and leave the switch set to "On" always to accomplish what the manual says.
My biggest complaints are the about the longevity of the unit and its output quality. My unit is already dead after about six months and I'm hoping the warranty process goes smoothly. The mixer itself works fairly well although it introduces quite a bit of distortion when any of the sliders are set above 6. I certainly would not recommend this unit for anyone looking for a high sound quality solution, but this could be perfect for a hobbyist or other lightweight use.

I bought this to replace the previous model which had better design and component quality – it had 4 inputs, each w/ one quarter inch and one rca plug – and outputs on the same side of the unit – much better design.
Both items have no model number, and both are named the same thing on the unit and on the web: “4-Channel Stereo Microphone (Mixer Model: No model information available”) Catalog #: 32-2056 (I didn’t find the catalog number on the older one.)
I plug a mic and guitar and keyboard into it and plug it into my amp to rehearse and play small gigs.
On this newer model - serious overdrive – the mic will no longer do anything but squeal and the keyboard sounds like it’s in a wind tunnel – each of these plugged into the amp directly sound fine. The guitar is ok, but has to be played low volume on both the guitar and amp. No wonder everyone says it’s “noisy” - the preamp is not adjusted correctly!
The impedance is changed on the new model – and the design is worse.
And, yes, the mono/stereo switch seems to not affect much, either, but I hadn’t bothered to go any further with this investigation.
I would love to buy the old model. I'm returning this one.

You can mix four microphones and two stereo line inputs simultaniously. The amplifier gains are too high and produces hiss.

I have had this product for four years now... I use it at least twice a week for my broadcast and recording of sermons and sporting events... Very portable and fast to set up for a production... The only problem that has developed just recently for me was due to my regular use of the mixer I would take the battery out after each use, one of the wires came lose so I had to purchase the adapter for wall mounting... (ouch) it cost almost as much as the mixer itself... I still LOVE this mixer!!!
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Bought this because I need a simple mixer for my mikes. Does not separate stereo signals! Unacceptable for me. Otherwise, no hum reported by other reviews.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Before you buy this mixer, realize that the microphones are not separated stereophonically. I tried a mike in all 4 slots and it always showed up on *both* of the outputs. Yes, I tried flipping the stereo/mono switch both ways.
Otherwise, it would be a great little product.

Me and my friend uses it for DJ partys and it works great but I wouldent recommend this for professional parties.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
The product is a good buy for those that want simple control of adjusting levels when recording, I reccommend buying 9 volt adaptor. Unit does tend to use a lot of power and it is very easy to forget to shut off. I have had mine for a year and no problems.

I use this for sound mixing on ReapSowRadio. It has been very dependable with no noise. I would advise anyone who is getting started in podcasting or internet radio get one.Works fine with batteries but buy the power adapter too, it's worth the extra cost.

I Bought This Mixer Today And So Far It Works Great, It Produces Almost No Self Noise ( If Set Up Right ) And Makes My Vocals Deeper And More Crisp!. If You Run A Small Home Studio And Need Better Vocals.! Buy This Mixer!.[@]
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I bought this a few years ago (c. 2004) for home recording of original material to help the youth choir members learn their parts. It is easy to use, quick to set up (our setup runs mixer into AUX on home stereo to PC out as TAPE 2). On the most recent project last fall I noticed quite a bit of background noise, particularly troubling when editing the takes. It's the mixer. Now I'm looking for a quiet one, now that my standards are higher. For [$]though (it was $40 when I bought mine), as long as you're not looking for near-studio sound, why not?

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Our idea was to use this mixer to combine various signals into a single output, which we would record on a pc for a later podcast. Unfortunately, this device does not seem to work well with the average "PC Microphone." It worked great with our XLR dynamic mike and the line out from a laptop, but when we used a variety of pc headset and desktop mikes (like you might use for SKYPE, they go to the microphone input on your sound card), it only picked up the faintest of signals. Even with everything turned up to 11 and with us screaming into the mike, the output was still barely audible.

This is a great product for a quick fix. It works well for its price and is a little hard to label. The only problem is that it is hard to use with imputs on both ends. Otherwise its great!

Clear sound for use in two language input L - R into Digital 8mmD video camera MIC-INPUT. Light and mobile. Battery power or AC/DC option good flexibility. Optional RCA or line jack inputs nice. Small and compact.
Power LED remains off in power ON does not alert operator that unit is left on.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This mixer is cheap and easy to use, but its still not worth the money. I used it to amplify and combine several different instruments into my computer, and the option of using 1/4" cables was why I bought it. The sliders were much too sensative and it ended up breaking after about a month wich was very dissapointing. If your using this to record or for music and cant afford to keep replacing it then DONT BUY THIS!

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
The poor sound quality that other people have experienced must have been because of bad wiring. I use it for my computer to record from a mic, music devices and an FX processor and it works just fine. I connect it to Line In.
All four channels with microphones connected work just fine. It's perfect for simple needs.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
OK, so it's not a Mackie or even a Peavey. But these are not bad little mixers for the price. We used to use a pair of the earlier model of these to mix and record our church services, and they worked quite well, until I messed them up (I was much younger and didn't know how to properly take care of a mixer.) You get what you pay for, and these are not bad at all for the price.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Not the best, but great for the value. I use it to play my ipod and guitar through one amp, kareoke with two mics and an ipod, and 3 headset mics through one computer. For all of these things it works great, but i do want a mixer with more control eventually.

All those folks having a problem with humming should be aware that there is a ground on the back of this device. (Edited by moderator.)

I just purchased this for a party at my house. I utilized this mixer for a lot of karaoke and to play music from my ipod. This thing worked great!!! I don't understand the bad reviews... it worked fantastic for me. Would recommend for the price.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
Junky. Sound quality on the output side is terrible. Humming, static. Isolated mixer..no soap. This one is going back. Store employees of little or no help technically. Most know little about what they're selling. No real-time support phone at RS either. Bummer.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I took a chance on this and regret it. I am trying to record the output and all you hear is the loud noise from this mixer.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This mixer is not bad at all. At first I was getting a LOUD hummmmmm. But once I moved the mixer 4 feet away from my screen and computer the hum was gone. Good buy for the price.

Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
This is a great mixer, I normaly use it for fun(singing along to a cd and playing on the keyboard).I Hook it up to a normal audio reciver and it sounds great and is easy enough to use that you can teach someone in 11.37 seconds. but I wish that it had a 1/4" output, and i can not find the power adapter.
Comments about RadioShack 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer:
I use this with a Sony ECM-MS908C microphone into a iMic USB audio interface on a G5 iMac The iMic w/o this mixer has hash noise. Driving it line out with this mixer works very nice and sounds very clean. Very surprising for a under $200 setup with all 3 peices. No AC hum from the 9V DC adapter either.
