When I first bought this, it was really fast and easy to use . Its really long lasting and durable.The thing i also needed was the xbox part but it is compatible(web address-wise)but it really isnt.

This unit was so quick and easy to install. I just inserted the CD and followed the directions. I was hooked up and running in minutes. I can access the internet with my laptop from anywhere around my house, inside and out, with a strong signal. It has never dropped my connection. This unit is definitely worth the price and then some.

I bought my router about 5 months ago and I just installed it about a week ago. I was in the beginning intimidated and actually asked the cable people when they installed my high speed internet if they could install it, however they refused. They explained that it wasnt there property therefore they couldn't. In the meantime I asked coworkers, and family for help-- to no avail. For some reason I was really nervous about installing, I thought that I would do it wrong. Finally after months of waiting and no one coming to my aid, I sat down and installed it. The cd walked me through the process. I was so proud of myself, I don't know why I thought that it was a difficult process. It did take about an hour and a half for some reason for me to finish installation. However, I was very pleased with the end result. My computer runs much faster now that I am not hooked up to the modem. I would say that my computer now runs 10 X faster. I am very happy with this router and hope that I will continue to have enjoyment for many years to come. Don't be intimidated, just put the cd in and the installation will do the rest. Thank you radio shack for selling a great product at a great price.

i have my wrt54g for about 3-4 years now and it has been dropped, hit, thrown, and basically through hell and back and it still works great the clips on the cover broke but that's all I'm happy with my router i if i ever got a nother one it would be a wrt54g

This is a great router from a great manufacturer(now owned by an even greater company, CISCO).

Other than being your standard router with 802.11g wireless, these are some of the more reliable devices on the market.

pros:
-one of the most reliable consumer grade wireless routers
-supports the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless encryption
-Easy to use configuration pages that don't hide the settings you're looking for

cons:
-major configuration updates sometimes require you to manually restart the router
-WPA and WPA2 can be a little finickey about passcodes

I just wish they were still making the version 4's, they were much more malleable as one could use third party firmware patches to increase functionality....

I have had this router for about 1 month. The router works great. I bought it primarily for use with my Wii that I bought not to long ago and for a laptop I plan to buy. I didn't know any thing about routers so I reasearched for weeks and saw great router brands but the one brand that kept getting reviewed about quality, security, and speed without drops was linksys. When I got home from my local radioshack I was so excited to setup and use internet wirelessly, but like many beginners I ran into problems. I started out inserting the packaged cd into my PC. I downloaded it and opened the program. Easylink Advisor the setup program was really helpful. After it told me how to insert eack wire step by step it detected the router and setup wireless security. It let open the internet on the computer and it worked. In my research I found that WPA had stronger security and signal than WEP which the router setup. So I opened Easylink advisor and I went to the Actions tab and clicked Change Wireless Security and changed the security to WPA. Now that everything was great with the computer I decided to connect the Wii wirelessly. The Wii found my Linksys router(with full signal)with ease. The Wii asked for my Encryption Key. So I went to Easylink Advisor. I went to Support tab and I saw My Network Settings. I entered the Encryption Key that I found in My Network Settings into my Wii, but it said the Key was wrong. Then after many frustrating minutes I found that your NOT supposed to use the Encryption Key in My Network Settings. The right Encryption Key to add new devices like the Wii to the network is given to you when you go to Add a device under Actions in Easylink Advisor. So I entered this into my Wii and it was finally connected to the internet. I was surfing the internet for hours, but the next day the internet was disconnected. I thought my internet service was the problem. Turns out that all I had to do was press the reset button on the back of the router. After doing this I have been problem free for a long time and the Wii loves this router. I really hope this helps anybody deciding to buy this router, having problems with this router, or connecting a Wii to this router.

I've had the WRT54G router for a little over a year now and it has performed beautifully. Initially I had to call tech support for the set-up which is why I can't give it a 5 star rating, but after that it was all gravy. Fast, Reliable and secure I use it for my computer, my DS, my PSP, my PS3 and the Wii. Online gaming from any of these devices is lag free and silk smooth 99.9 percent of the time. I had to initiate port forwarding for the PS3 for a NAT2 rating for online play and it was easy as pie.

I like the router so much that I'm going to buy one for my nephew since he just got a Wii for his birthday last week. Which is why I'm here writing this review. Highly recommended.

I reaaly like my new router, it was a cheaper way to go wireless and to setup a home network.it also works well with my built-in adapter which is Atheros 5006EG wireless network adapter.It also is capatible with configfree software which allows me to just unplug my cat5 cable and it auto switches to the wireless connection with me doing anything.

I have tried three different routers from rshack all wrt54g and gs and am wondering what the heck is wrong with these routers?? I have called linksys tech support and they have said the routers have been bad all three times. I like Linksys products but they have cost me a lot of valuable time...

Great router even if you don't know about wireless networking. Had a little trouble with the config. for MS Vista, But the technical support was FANTASTIC. Set me up in 15min. Other than that, no problems.

This Router is Fantastic. I had a few lock up problems with it in the begining but that was easily solved with a free firmware update from the Linksys website. A low cost way to add Wired/Wireless internet. Also works great with XBOX/XBOX 360 internet gaming. Highly Recommended!

This router is HORRIBLE. You constantly have to unplug/plug it back in because for no reason it will stop responding and your connection will go dead. I do not recommend anyone purchasing this router as it will cause more trouble than it is worth.

I resisted wireless for a long time - too many set up issues, but setting this up was as simple as following the directions. 10 minutes and I was up and running - no problems is 3 months of use, except that it interferes with my Radio Shack wireless TV transmiter/receiver (but I knew that it would - everything does).

It was easy to set up but.... I kept getting various error messages when I first tried to configure the system. The directions are specifically set up for using a desktop unit to configure the system. I only have a lap top. I didn't open "network connections" and enable the "LAN" nor did I have the cable hooked up to the lap top. A pretty obvious error on my part but for a more casual user they may of never been able to figure it out.

I have been using linksys equipment for 5 years, i just went out a got the wireless router, before i used the hardwired one and a G acess point for a laptop, but my old router went bad so i needed to replace and upgraded to a all in one , works great.

As a network tech I can say from experience that this product is the best on the retail-store market. Most of the people who have problems with it simply don't know what they're doing. It's easy to setup if you actually follow the direction.

Initial setup somewhat difficult with DSL modem. Had to use Bellsouth Tech support to properly configure. Once done wireless accessed quickly and has strong signal throughout home. Router is located in basement.

I am not a computer savvy person. So when I was going wireless and adding 2nd computer to househiold. I went to Radio Shack. I recieved EXCELLENT help from employee there. He explained exactly what I needed and what I needed to do. And if I had any problems he told me I could call him and he would help. However I needed no help as it was easy and worked my first try. It has been working geat with no issues.

great product! i get about 200ft of range through like 20 walls and 1 floor. the only thing i dont like about it is that i hav 2 unplug it and plug it back in every now and then because ill lose signal. settin it up takes a lil time if u do it manually like i had to becuase of my internet but other than that its great

I have this router at home connected to my cable modem. As I recall the setup was not a snap (needed to update the firmware so I rated "ease of use" a 3) but setting up the security (which I recommend) was pretty easy. I used one of the other 4 ports for a desktop near the device. I'm very happy with the range, in fact I spent the first night walking up and down the street w/ my laptop(nobody actually saw me doing that :)
