Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

I purchased my C220 for my annual winter trip. From Alma, WI to AZ and back it was the greaest thing since Ice Cream. Dollar for dollar I dont think you can get any better for the price. Not once did it fail me. In fact I was almost intimidated because it was obviously smarted than me. Other than to pick out a destination, I never once looked at a map. Punch in an address and it takes you right there

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

great little unit for the price. I looked high and low at all the models and finally chose Mio c220. The price was right ([$] May '07) and the warranty was cheap (4 years for [$]). The more I use it the more I like it. It is compact enough to fit in a shirt or pants pocket, aquires satellites quickly and holds on to them (my father has a Nuvi 200w that is terrible at this) and is pretty easy to use. I was a little skeptical of it at first since I was unfamiliar with Mio (Garmin is the big gun in GPS) and this was my first user friendly GPS (I had a Garmin etrex but it only had basemaps and lacked a touchscreen). The buttons on the Mio c220's touchscreen are kind of small (I would like the + and - buttons to be larger). I believe the other Mio models are this way too. Also, you cannot edit existing POI's (delete, change name, ect). This stinks since many shop/stores come and go. Bottom line, great little unit (especially for first timers) and I would buy another one again (maybe a 4.3" version).

Sends me wrong way on one way road.
Does not track on a limited access highway (shows going cross-county in several locations, for many km.). When 'off track', distance to destination goes to 100 km., even though actual was much less prior to going off-track.
"Route recalculation" message is so frequent, I turn off the sound.
Town shown as 460 km from actual location. (Warning: check paper map !!!)
Has interchanges where none exist.
Sends me on ordinary roads rather than limited access highway.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

I travel in major cities all over the US weekly. I bought the unit to eliminate the need for purchasing so many maps. I've found at times the MIO C220 sends you completly in the wrong direction. Twice I've asked it to take me to a POI airport pre programed (Burbank & Hobby)and it sent me miles away to a residential house. At Hobby I even looked up the correct address and it then sent me a different direction South when I knew it was north. It never corrected itself even up to the car rental return. In East Texas it has gone to a another State once to never return till powered off. Basically it's a low cost marginal tool to help you get there. I never rely on it more than 60% anymore. While driving I still keep maps out and on the seat checking as I go. My recommendation is the same to other owners. Also the GUI is very difficult to use while driving compared to others I've seen. You really have to work at it to get around inside the unit. Good travels!

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

The Mio Digiwalker product is ok but their support is non-existent. I have called them over 8 times, from Sep 2007 to Jan 2008, to get an RMA completed. Each call took an average of 1/2 hour. They have no idea how to treat customers and God forbid you ever want to return something.

Trust me! You will NEVER get your money refunded, even if they issue you an RMA. This is by far the WORST service I have ever experienced. This is not a crank review, it is the truth, HONEST!!! I guess I will have to take them to Small Claims Court to get my money refunded. Then I will try to get the Newspapers to recount my ordeal.

This unit is used for a car service. It is 1 of many that are used. For the most part the Mio is as good as or better than the other units that we use - at, in most cases, less than half the price. No, it's not perfect, but the learning curve, for this GPS, is not a steep one. Need a phone number for a hotel or a business?? You got it!! The PIO listing with this unit is pretty good.

Awesome. I recently moved to a new city and had no idea where to find anything - this little device gets me where I'm going and does so quickly. I was going to give this to my aunt for christmas but I thought I better try it out first. It gives some bad directions no matter what the route settings are (fast, shortest, easy, economical). On the third day it started displaying an application error. I tried to run the CD program to reinstall the application software. Tried 3 times and everytime it never completed the reinstall (message says it takes 2 hours but it never finishes!!!) Needless to say I brought it back for a refund.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

I liked the interface and screen. It took some time getting used to, but manageable. The screen was a lot better than the Magellan I have right now. Really easy to read day or night.

I only used it a few times and it locked up on us coming back from Fresno. I had to restart. It locked a few more times after that and it went back to the store. It really had a lot better info in it than the magellan I bought for more money.Mio said that if it did not lock up more than 10 times a day not to worry about it. I told them if my computer locked up that much it would be in file thirteen.

The directions were good and the POI's were great compaired to the Magellan.

When the Mio 220 works, it's a wonderful GPS, quick scrolling, and generally accurate, will take you right to the door of your destination, the automatic switching between night mode and day mode (based off the internal clock) is nice, as is the predictive keyboardthe problems? in one word, "windows CE", this is a WinCE 5.0 based device, and shares all of windows myriad shortcomings, in the five days I've owned this device, it's locked up on me numerous times, and suffered no less than *THREE* hard system crashes, complete with the Windows "Illegal Operation Error" dialog box, each time, a hard reboot was neccecary to regain functionalityIt would randomly lose connections to the GPS sattelites, sometimes while driving in open air, no bridges or buildings, just a simple country road, and the signal would dissapearthere was a faint flicker from the backlighting system as well, random, but noticeablethis type of system instability is unacceptable, it may be par for the course with windows, but I'm a Mac user, I expect the device to *JUST WORK*Mio is also noncommital on Mac support, they're "thinking about it", wheras TomTom *SUPPORTS* Mac usersthis GPS will be returned to my local [...]and exchanged for a TomTom One Third Edition, no the mount is not as sturdy as the Mio, but the TT-O runs a proprietary OS that hopefully will not be as unstable and thoroughly pathetic as WinCEPity, really, as I *wanted* to like the Mio, WinCE aside, it was a rather good little unit, just too unstable for my tastes

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

This unit is not bad for the price. I bought it for work purposes since I drive around all day. The voice is very hard to hear, even in a quiet car and the routing/maps were not great. About 20% of the time, the unit can't find an address but it is usually within 50-200 yards. One major thing that bugged me was the fact that there is no way to cancel a route. So, if your GPS doesn't recognize that you reached your destination, it continues trying to route you there until you program in another address and successfully arrive at it.I returned it and got the Tom Tom One - for $50 more it is a far better unit, they are not even in the same league.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

If you don't require bluetooth, mp3, ect, and just want navigation, this is a neat unit! Acquires position upon startup in several seconds. I like having 2 map modes...cockpit map (intended map while on a navigated route), and general map. The general map allows one to type in an address, and immediately have a map centered around the location, ready to examine, and add as a POI. Tapping the map in cockpit or map mode results in a street address in a pop-up (can make it's location a POI or route destination)! I like the smart 3D map behavior. The unit is very slim and light...slip it in a pocket(I got a nice soft case to slip it into to avoid scratching the display)!

The quick start guide is incomplete and does not provide enough information. The unit comes with a SD card of the U.S.; I almost missed it as I was not aware that it came with the unit, and was required in order to look at the entire U.S. It is best to delete the workexample "favorite" and it's map to avoid routing to or displaying it's location in Maine (as opposed to the part of the country that you are interested in)!

I loved the maps! Better presentation the Garmin or Magellan. But the low volume of the audio is it's downfall.

This is a great entry level GPS device. It's very accurate and the maps are great. It doesn't have all the features more expensive units do, but I don't need those anyway. This device does everything you need to get you from point A to B.

i was a little unsure about this once i read the reviews but needed one badly and though idve rather gotten one bluetooth compatible i needed one quick. [...] Love it! it hasnt failed me and we just moved to long island, so ive had to have complete trust in it. when my fiances gps shut down on him for the billionth time i turned mine on and we were back on track. by the way, he paid [$] for his magellan and has had so many problems! it loses signal alot and mine has yet to. how is that possible when they run off the same sattelite? Anyway, its not superfancy but it does get you where you need to go. And the volume is fine, i guess if you had the radio on you may not hear it but should you be listening to the radio and for directions if you have no idea where you are going? no!

The company is preparing a "fix" for the soft and quiet voice. They don't know when it will be available. The Tech support even told me to exchange it for the new 320. It works well but it is really hard to hear and I have a quiet BMW. Don't wast your money !

I got this gps about 3 months ago and I have been very happy with the performance. This is my first gps and quite frankly it does everything I need at a great price compared to some other brands that I have done some research on. All in all a great product for the first time user. Easy to understand and set up right out of the box. Even though it is easily transferable from auto to auto I'm getting another just because its so cheap and convenient.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

I couldn't be happier with my choice. Its cheap, but not cheap. Ready to go out of the box. No maps to download or services to subscribe to. Default setup was good, but I have been tweaking to suit my taste. The most useful is the extensive listing of points of interest. They are given in the menu by category; entertainment, transportation, etc. You start either by choosing a city or it defaults to your current location. If choosing a city, then category, the points of interest are listed alphabetically. If choosing a POI near your current location, they are listed by distance from current location.
The menus are straight forward, and the touch screen is just sensitive enough. I also like the size of the screen. It is not too large or too small. I've recommended this to several friends who made purchases and used them on vacations. Maps have been very accurate. I did have two instances where the system froze and displayed an error message. I just turned off and back on to clear. I also like that it is portable, not just from vehicle to vehicle, but also while walking or riding a bike. The unit has a rechargeable battery. If looking for a store or restaurant, you can take it out of your car and walk with it. The unit let's you choose the type of vehicle you are in including pedestrian, emergency vehicle, truck, bike, etc. My brother uses it in his delivery truck and it directs him on truck routes.
Buy one...I bought three one for my car, one for my wife's car, and one for my kids car. It even has a tracking function that you can turn on so you can see where your kids have been driving. Just don't tell them!!!

Of the many GPS's I've owned, this one is the best. The points of interest are fantastic.

The Mio DigiWalker C220 groups the POI's better than the Tom Tom , Magellan and Garmin that now share the back of my desk drawer.

I've paid more for less, now I have the best GPS made.

[...] did not know how to operate the system and thought it just didn't work. I made them call Technical Support from the store! I am glad I did because Mio's phone support gave us the instructions we needed (put the SD card inside slot) I ended up with the least expensive product in the store and I am very happy with it. The only improvement they need is the instructions manual, its very basic. I should have bought this a very long time ago. No more getting lost and wasting time as well as gasoline.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

After 5 minutes I wanted to throw this defective unit out the window. Garmin 320 or 330 is much better, the controls are confusing beyond belief, and the unit was dyslexic and stuttered. It would say stay left when the map showed stay right and vice versa. I ended up doing the opposite of what it said and I was on track. I started to think that I was on a hidden camera TV show to see how people would react if a gps tried to make them nuts. On highways that I travel every day it was telling me to get off and go in the wrong direction, then it started talking like max headroom and stuttering and repeating the same syllables of words over and over again. It also was way off on the distance to turns. The clock changed to the wrong time after I set it. [...]

I had put this GPS on my motorcycle and from the jar of a bump the suction cup let go and the GPS fell to the pavement at 50 mph. It knocked the bezel off, the card came out and the mount seperated. All pieces were in about 100 ft of each other. Picked it up and believe it or not it was still working. Repaired the bezel and it works good as new.

Comments about Mio Mio DigiWalker C220 Portable Car Navigation System:

This is a great unit. It was easy to set up and ready to go out of the box. I compared it to more expensive units, but this has all the things I wanted in a GPS (I don't need it to talk to me as Mr. T). Only complaint would be that the maps on the SD card are dated. There are several roads around me that were built and open 3 years ago and do not show up on the map. There does not seem to be any updates for this unit yet, but I'm hoping those will be along in time.
