I bought this scanner last year. So far it has worked great. I have lived rural West Virginia my whole life. This scanner is good for rural areas because it gets great signal. I also recommend this scanner to anybody who only needs to scan a small amount of frequencies, since it only has 200 channels, you can get your money's worth.

Verry easy to use I program codes in for my local town and they come in great. If you want a easy to use scanner to pick up calls in your town this is the one. In fact my dad gave me his $290.00 scanner with all the bells & whistles it was a pain to use I gave it back to him and went out and purchased this one for [$]

I used this to receive the local fire, police, and ambulance calls and kept getting "bleedover" (intermod) from aircraft flying over and talking on their frequencies. Overall, easy to use average scanner if you don't mind listening to the intermod.

I use this to listen to my local police and fire stations. I have the cities around me programed into it and the signal is very clear. I think it is worth the price and I enjoy every minute of it because I am one of those persons who needs to know what is going on.

the weather channel bleeds over all the channels. when the radio gets warm. the squelch will not comtrol the bleed over. cuotomer service wouldnt do anything to help.

I am a volunteer firefighter and i bought this to sit it up at the fire house. I was UNAWARE that it didn't have narrowband. This scanner is outdated because the FCC is now only granting narrowband licenses so what is the point in buying this??? Also another big drawback is LACK OF CTCSS decoding. This means you have to listen to other traffic on the frequency besides your county's. We share a freq with another county but have different CTCSS codes. With this scanner i would have to listen to both counties traffic which is completely unacceptable. I am returning this thing and getting something with more features.

Bought a new scanner due to the FCC changes in narrow banding Fire & EMS Etc in the VHF band. That requires four digits behind the decimal point in the VHF mode. Please correct me if I am wrong, but mine will not except the narrow band VHF Frequencies. Do any of the Radio Shack scanners do narrow banding.

I bought this scanner for two reasons. First, I'm poor and this scanner is cheap. I was surprised when I opened the box and the scanner worked perfect. I just wish I could get 800 mghz range. Otherwise, this scanner is a nice scanner for basic home use and is easily programmed.

This is one of the best scanners for the Money Any Where ! With 200 ch's , analog reception , one touch instant scann buttons for , Air , Ham , weather , marine , and police & fire , there is almost no limit to what you listen to . The only thing I could complain about is I only wished that you had instant weather alert with out locking the unit down into just the weather mode. Other than that this is one supper Scanner ! a fist time user and it was a walk in a park.i hear everthing from water,land, and air. crystal clear reception and knows whats going on in my community. i recommend this radio.
