Comments about RadioShack PRO-433 1,000-Channel Triple-Trunking Desktop/Mobile Scanner:

I use this scanner for personal use ti listen to local police, detectives, and fire. The features i like best on this pro-433 is the light dimmer on the scanner console. The orange light on the scanner is verry bright at dark. It has a button that enables you dim the light or cut it off. Some of the reception is a little questionable, but overall has good reception. Whats not so great about the purchase of this scanner, is that there is 150 pre-programmed frequencies in the scanner but it does not say what the frequencies belong to. Therefore, you don't what you are listening to. Lastly, if you want a real good frequency code book, i recommend ordering from [@]. they have put together a frequency code book like no other. It has everything in it. But, this is a real nice scanner and i would definitely recommend it for purchasing. so far, i have'nt had any problems with mine.

Hi everyone, i just bought the pro-433 a week ago and it's a very nice scanner. I use it for home base listening. The things i find are great about this scanner is that for the most part it has good reception, but lacks good reception on some frequencies especially at it's listed capability of 1300 MHz, or it won't pick up some frequencies that it should be picking up. Otherwise, i love it and it's a great buy!

Excellent scanner! It picks up very well and has good audio. I hooked an external speaker up to it and let it run long and hard and it performs great. The orange lighting is good and can be adjusted for brightness. The stock supplied antenna gets the job done nicely. You can't go wrong with this scanner and at this price everyone should have one. It simply rocks!

Comments about RadioShack PRO-433 1,000-Channel Triple-Trunking Desktop/Mobile Scanner:

This product is being used for local fire department offices. It receives very well on an inside antenna and is not terribly hard to learn to program. The one complaint I am having that hasn't been worked out is periodically in trunk tracking mode with three programmed talkgroups, the scanner keeps right on scanning even though one of the desired talkgroups is active and part or all of the message is missed. Should this be resolved then It could get 5 stars. Right now it gets 4.

This scanner is a treasure find. Bought the scanner yesterday and it worked great out of the box but then today I bought the Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna Model: 20-176 at Radio Shack mounted it around 17ft in the air and have been having ball listening to it. Been able to listen to airplane, marine craft, and ham operators as well as the usual fire, police, and so on. Before hooking up the outside antenna was able to hear a patrol car on I-10 which is about 45 miles from my house. Very Highly Recommend this Scanner.

I've had scanners for business and personal use for about 35 years. Bought this one to replace a PRO-2004 I thought was going on the blink after 20 years of reliable service. The 433 is great--reception is excellent, as is clarity and sensitivity. Band coverage is super. (By the way, turns out the PRO-2004--one of the Shack's greatest scanners--wasn't going bad after all. Now I have another great one in the 433).

Very good scanner for the price. Actually got it on sale for [$]before Xmas. Use it as a companion to PRO-97 mobile scanner, and for streaming Railroad feed over internet. Only downside is that you can't alpha-numeric tag the channels. Be wary if you are buying programming cable for this scanner - you can get a usb/8mm cable to use with the scanner, but thusfar i've been unable to find programming software for this particular model, and it doesn't come with the cable.

I just returned to another store, a Uniden BCT-8 and picked up this mobile/base scanner. This unit is much better for sensitivity and intermod problems that face this area in lower Westchester County, NY. Very easy to read LCD display. I just miss the CTCSS/DCS but won't buy the PRO-2055 until I see all display problems are cleared up.

Very nicely made scanner by Uniden for [@]. It would of been nice to incorporate CTCSS/DCS. This units has a much better display then the PRO-2055 which has had problems however, in this area you need PL. Also, the audio output is good but could use another 1 watt or so. I am using it as a base.

I decided to replace my basic [...] brand scanner from 1998 (previous version of the current PRO-2018) with one of these. This is a huge step up from my first one. Tons of memory, speaker is much clearer, very well lit. Yet it's just as easy to use. I love the heavy steel casing of this one compared to the plasic case on the 2018. I hope this one lasts me 10+ years too. I'd recommend this to a casual listener who has some experience programming in channels and is familiar with the controls already.

Very easy to program basic scanner. Lots of features for the money and has just about all the features the average listener needs. Looks great and seems to be of good quality. It would be nice if you could program descriptive tags for the freqs programmed in it but for the price it is a great unit.

I bought this scanner today after taking my pro-2055 back for a defective display. I love this scanner. As soon as I turned it on I put in some frequencies and was scanning away. I didn't spend 5 minutes doing it. I listen to the railroad primarily and it does great. I highly encourage you to get this one. I don't use trunking so I can't say much about it but it does well on police frequencies and Ham bands.

This is my first "trunking" scanner, seems to be a really great scanner. Very easy to program and operate. Almost all of my local frequencies were already pre-programmed into the unit at the factory, so it truly did "work right out of the box". I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking to purchase a good scanner.

WOW! I never have had a scanner but I have always wanted one! I got this scanner and had NO IDEA how to work it at all. I was afraid with all the buttons I was going to have to go by a huge book to learn how to use it. NOPE! I just read the manual and it was put in plain English and so easy to use after you read the manual. I absolutely enjoy using this scanner. It works wonderfully in the car and at home. A GREAT BUY!!!!
