Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I read up on a lot of the different gps systems and wanted something basic and low priced. I found the TomTom to be the best product at the best price- and had a great intuitive interface. I was able to find some magellans or smaller company ones for a little less $ but this seemed to be the best value. Highly Recommended!

I got this for Xmas and had the same problem as Nick below -- you get a white screen when you turn it on unless you reset it every time. TomTom customer service says it can't be fixed with software; they say to return it to them or to seller. Of course, no one has a replacement to provide as demand far exceeded supply...

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

Pros: It acquires sattelite signal really fast and it will start giving directions right away. Easy to use and the screen lay out is great. It recalculates quick and I like the option that you can avoid some areas in the map that you don't want to travel. Then it will give you another option, this is good specially when you are planning to travel. You pre calculate your route and gives you an idea on how long will it take and will even give you the step by step direction right awayl

Cons: Map is not up to date. I lived in my house for 2 1/2 years and it still not on the map. There are some areas that it says I arrived, but i was still 2 miles away from the destination. If you download a lot of data from the internet,(mapshare, voices, POI's, etc.)you will run out of memory fast. I only have 27 MB left out of 1 GB. I suggest GPS with expandable memory. I returned my Tom Tom One 3rd and just probably waith for the other Tom Toms to go down in prices with expandable memory.

Overall, I loved it. I will probably wait when they update their map data on their new unit and probably purchase again. I also tried the Garmin Nuvi 200, the map is up to date, but it also has few hits and misses. Garmin has to wait for vehicle to move before it gives you the direction. Otherwise, I like Tom Tom's GPS, but then again, all GPS has their inaccuracies.

Worked fine until I hooked up to my computer to update it. All I got was a white screen. I had to reset it before each use after that. I don't know if it is the version of the USB or what that corrupted the software.

I bought this for my Wife's birthday, never again will we be without it. It was easy to set up 100% user friendly. We vaction alot up and down the California coast where there is always road construction and heavy traffic, we tried to confuse it and could not do it. We plan to buy another one [ tom tom only ] for a Christmas gift for our Kids in Kansas City. Everyone should have one. Our boss has a new Lexus 470 with built in GPS that is not user friendly, She just bought a Tom Tom to replace it, they are that good.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I am new to GPS. It took only a few minutes to get up and running. It acquired a signal quickly. The maps for my area are pretty accurate. I am surprised by the fact that it shows even lesser known roads. I paid [$] and I think it is a good value for the money. I have tested the device on known routes and it is accurate. I have developed a trust for the unit. I say if you looking for your first GPS..then this is a good one.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I want to like this GPS but it takes me into areas I know are not drivable roads. I loaded a local address in my town, when I took a look at the route it loaded I knew right away something was wrong. At the end of a dead end road a trail starts, tomtom one directed me to travel this trail to go accross town, had I been one a dirt bike maybe but a car, come on, the sucks. My worry is what will I get myself into when I depend on this to direct me in a town I don't know. Garmin has the best maps but none are perfect.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I bought the tt one and use it on my job daily in my para-transit bus. It prevents me from becoming lost and is pretty accurate finding addresses. You have to use some common sense when operating this unit or any other unit. If your VCR is still blinking 12:00, then forget it.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I originally bought this to get around in Phoenix Arizona while on vacation. I had NO problems at all, I didn't get lost not even once. Now that I have it I took a chance and started to work for a car service company (private taxi). I have used this about 95% of the time and not a glitch accept in Manhattan. becasue of the tall buildings I loose a signal for quite sometime but the blocks you need to use are still there, so I get around plus I know my way in the city. So I dont care what anyone says this is a GREAT GPS.

Cons:
Difficult To Install, Inaccurate, Tough To Control
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I went through two of these, before going to the Garmin Nuvi. The first one would load in a different language, and I could not use the [*] thing. Had to return it. the second worked fine out of the box. Was not accurate as the others. After using it on the computer, it would not disconect itself, and locked up. That was the end of TomTom!It would also take me on dirt roads, way out in the back country...taking the longest route possible. The roads are even impassible at times. GPS location, and simulation not good. I would rather have a paper map than this one.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I have been using the TomTom One and have found it very easy to use. It only took me about 15 minutes to set it up and get it started, and has been very helpful driving around Washington DC! The only downfall I can think of is that the screen isn't that big, but it's nice that it doesn't take up too much room on your windshield.

I also really like the different voice options... I have it on the British guy right now!

By big tyVerified Reviewer from richmond, in on 8/7/2007
Pros:
Accurate Maps, Reliable
Cons:
Inaccurate, Tough To Control
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

This GPS would be perfect if the user interface wasn't so... all over the place. Compared to a few other GPS units the tom tom's user interface looks like someone threw it together at the last minute. I like all the features of the tom tom... alot, but its seems so hard to just go somewhere, it makes you go threw 5 min of selections before you can do anything. But besides the UI, the tom tom is much better than the other gps units, so if you don't mind spending 5 min typing stuff into your gps prior to leaveing then its a great choice. Also another disadvantage I found to the tom tom was tht you can't touch the screen on poi's on the screen like you can on other models, also it told me to go the wrong way down a 1 way street.

I do not fully trust the tom tom, it has given me the wrong directions numberous times, for instance it would say turn right when i was 100% sure that you turn left. i could see me destination about 500 yards left and it said turn right, about 500 yards after i turned right it said i have reached my destination, and there was nothing there.

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I have to say that I've only had this a few days but I'm overall pretty satisfied with what I've seen so far. The maps are pretty accurate and for those people whom can't decide when a voice command should be followed might wanna use the voice prompt "mute" feature lol. Remember this is entry level it's not going to be perfect however I'd have to say overall well done. I did have some connectivity problems with my cell phone that should be easier to set up but thats about it.

I had the privilege of using my friends TomTom One recently and was so impressed I?m now looking for one of my own. I had never used a gps before, but this device was very easy to use. I was surprised at how accurate it was too. I just entered my destination and the One took care of the rest. I highly suggest this device to anyone who gets lost easily and doesn?t want to spend a fortune on a gps.

The only thing I can find wrong with the TOMTOM is when it comes up to some turnes it's not always clear still it will put you on the right road to get back on track.

By Peter K from Hyannis on 12/29/2006

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

I am having trouble powering it on. It often takes about 30 seconds to power on, and not sure if it is in the "on" or "off" position. The green light is always lit when plugged into C.L. Some trouble with roads and directions. I kind of like it..its easy to use...but the power problem is bad. Its probably one of those "you get what you pay for" things... given its low price.

By Wayne C from New York, NY on 12/27/2006
Pros:
Easy to use, Good Value, Reliable

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

So easy, even my wife uses it without help. I love her dearly, but she's technologically challenged. Even after she's not followed the directions to the letter, the TomTomOne corrects itself for the new route. In my opinion, it's well worth the money. I can't speak for the durability, as we only have it for two months, but it shows no signs of wear yet. More sophisticated models offer more features, such as wireless communication to your cell phone, but we've already got headsets, so that would only be redundant!

By Mike C from New York on 12/8/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good Value, Reliable

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

The unit is easy to operate, accurate and worth the money. It's slim size allows you to carry it in your pocket when not in use and it is ready to go with a few minor selections right out of the box. It may not have speech recognition and sometimes takes a few seconds to get a signal but it not an epensive unit and should not be compared to one. We used it to travel the east coast and it helped us to find hotels, fuel stations, resturants and various stores by name or category. It made travel easy and whether it was local or across the state there was no hassel.

By D B from Los Angeles on 12/6/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easy to use, Good Value, Reliable

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

Great unit for the money. I have had this GPS for about 2 months now and it?s great. It?s led me astray a few times but mainly because the road like little Santa Monica don't exist anymore. Amazingly accurate when you arrive at your location. I will say that the antenna should be bigger, once I was parked near a freeway and it thought I was on it. Also sometimes it takes a bit of time for it to find a signal if it?s been in a garage. Considering all of its data comes from a memory card I am pretty impressed with everything it does have. Would be nice if it had speech recognition or told you the names of roads, but for the price I think it is worth it. Also I bought it to mount it where the optional $2000 nav would go in my car, and its form, only 1" thick makes it very easy to fit. Definitely recommend to check this one out.

Pros:
Durable

Comments about TomTom TomTom Go ONE GPS Receiver:

Looked and worked well at first but the more I use it the more I want to return it. Has been wrong on 3 of 10 addresses, several resturants not there or closed along time ago. Sometimes the arrow for your vehicle floats off course for no apparent reason causing the unit to try to recalculate when no correction is needed. often late warnings of turns make the turn hard to make. I see no other reason for the encluded software other than to sell you optional features.
