I have a 102" whip screwed to a pipe on the roof of my house and have talked around the country with it (when conditions permit). Not the best choice for DX but it will work great for local and mobile use. First day I had skip conditions I was talking to the guys in Los Angeles and I live in Oregon. Also made contacts in Illinois. Only using 25-35 watts but upgrading to 5/8 wave because i need a groundplane. Still great antenna for the price and beats the pants off my firestik.

i have this antenna mounted to the bumper on my S10 Blazer. it is the best CB antenna i have ever used. it picks up and transmits great. it also looks cool on my truck.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I've used the fiberglass version of this antenna as well as the the stainless steel version for about two years for the 10 meter ham band. It tunes up just fine using a tuner and the reception is awesome. Once in a while I'll toss the old CB in the car and it's amazing what you can pull in with this antenna.
The biggest downfall to this antenna is that if you wanted to tune it for a higher frequency you would have to get out a Dremel to cut the whip down a bit.
The best type of mount that I have found for this antenna is a tri-mag mount. You can find these at various hamfests or places online. I have also used a lip mount before but the antenna started to pull the mount forward and slam back onto the trunk when stopping, so I would not recommend using a lip mount.
I have also cut one of these down to use as a 6 meter antenna and it works great on there as well.
I no longer run this antenna on my car but maybe once band conditions get better I will toss it back on.

I used a 5" magnet mount and mounted this sucker to the roof of my '97 ford taurus. it is the coolest and best working thing I have ever used. It is awesome. I highly reccommend this 102" whip.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I have used two of these co-phased on a Ford Explorer for some time now and am quite pleased with the performance! I have mostly used the fiberglass version due to their rigid nature as I also display christmas lights on them in the winter. Unfortunately they are no longer available. These, however, are just as good for TX/RX.

The best antenna made for CB radio use!

My 102 inch steel whip antenna blew out the Wilson 1000 and the K40 antenna. Can't beat it. It's also half the cost as a Wilson 1000. I highly recommend this antenna especially for a pick up truck. Get the ball mount and spring coil with it for a 1.1 SWR.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
There is NOTHING on the market that can out-perform a good old 102" whip for distance and reception. I have used these for years and have never had problems. No coils to worry about either! The only drawback is that garaged vehicles need to use a tie-down clip for clearing the garage door.

Deer hunting in the woods. Raccoon hunting, rabit hunting, and running dogs it works good.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
It's still the best you can get. I tryed others half it size, loaded & uloaded but i was only getting out a across the street.Bought a new 102" steel whip and it gets me across the county!
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
you can't fine tune it, it is set to one frequence and that is it, you have to cut the tip off to tune it for any other bands. it is for CB only. Radio Shack, please get better equipment and lower the price. You should change your name from Radio Shack to Cell Phone Shack and get it over with! Radio Shack doesn't know Radios.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
Full 1/4 wave w/o needing coils to make up the length. Best SWR for all channels. Heavy spring and base are recommended. I've used one since 1962. Have tried other types, but nothing compares. Comes out to 108" with 6" spring.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I run my 102" steel whip as a base anteena and it is the best moblie anteena i have ever used.
My working radio is a superstar 158dxblue
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I use the 102 inch whip on my truck using a firestick post hole mount exelent antenna. Low standing wave will make even a cheap radio get out like as if you have a big expencive model. Just a great antenna.

Best fricken antenna i'll ever own!!!!!!!!
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
1/4 wave will definately make your mobile operation better. I actually use this whip in combination with my Monkeymade MM9 antenna shaft to acheive almost 1/2 wave. Great swr when tuned right with a home made magnet mount plate on top of a grand cherokee. CON: over 14' clearance, have to watch bridges. DO NOT USE SPRINGS, they are inefficient and load up your swrs to trick you into thinking you have an efficient match, these are flexible enough to use without springs, you want a firm mount. Easily handles 1100 watts on 10 meters.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
Their simply isn't a better mobile made. I've used these as base antennas also. A full 1/4 wave 102" antenna will radiate maximum RF at any power level. The reception from this antenna is outstanding when installed properly. Drawbacks are due to size, chopping tree limbs, mounting spring noise and redneck factor...it is unsightly. This antenna has the most bang for the buck compaired to any other design. Mounting higth and Ground Plane effect this antennas as well as all antennas greatly.

great reception bent a little to easily
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
This is a great antenna! It out-performs any antenna that I have ever used! You get a lot more receive and output from your cb radio with this. I had a piece of a flat garden shovel mounted to my tire rack on my S10 Blazer, and that's where I put this antenna, but keep in mind that you will need a spring for this antenna, as it does tend to sway with the wind, but not an extreme amount. This is a great antenna with a great price. Definitely worth the money, I'm gonna buy another one for my truck, so I can get even better output and receive. I highly recommend this antenna to any cb radio user that wants the most performance from their radio.

This will be the best & last antenna you will ever need to buy. Simply the best!
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
This is the most powerfull CB antenna made. Not Wilson and not K40. The 102" whip CB antenna beat them both. I own one and transmit 85 miles on channel 15 AM CB from Westbrook, Ct. To Providence Rhode Island
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I had 2 on the rear bumper of my f-150 and i could easily talk for miles. i have since taken one off and can still send/recieve amazingly
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
This is my second 102"whip and it is as good as the first one I owned. When I mounted it to my rear bumper and wired it up, I had about 80% less engine noise. I was using an Antron Mag Mount and had so much noise with it that I had to drop my RF Gain to half just to hear better. But that also dropped signals from other radios. So Squelch had to go way up. Now I only get the fuel pump buzz. That is so slight, I don't worry about it. I live in Ft Myers, and can hear radios in LaBelle now. Radio shack, Never stop selling this antenna, it is a keeper.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
The 102" is the most powerfull CB antenna made. I own one and talked 82 miles away on AM channel 15. Not even Wilson 5000 or 1000 beats the 102" for power. That is after my speaking to wilson techs. This is the antenna made for CB. Nothing even comes close.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
This antenna is the only way to go if you want CB to be worthwhile. Make certain to mount it on the highest point in the center of the vehicle or it will not work as well.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
This is a great antenna! Yeah it's 8.5 feet long and it's gonna hit stuff, so you need a HD ball mount and a HD barrel spring to install it. I just got it today and put it on top of the headache rack of my truck(which puts the tip of it about 14.5ft off the ground and it looks great). It puts out a strong signal and the SWR stays low, less than 1.5:1 on all channels. I can talk 20+ miles easy on a stock radio with 4 watts on AM and even more on the side bands with 12 watts. I'd reccomend this to anyone looking for a good CB antenna.

I bought a 40' fiberglass antenna for [$]. Then i found this one for [$]and 102' and it works WAY better!!!
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I am on my 4th one, getting ready to buy my 5th. Mounted behind the cab on my 4x4 pickup, the SWR on CB comes right in at 1.0 to 1.15 accross the band. Never had an SWR problem with these whips. RX and TX are insane, been accused of running power with this antenna repeatedly. I use a welder cable sort of rig to toss a ground plate into the Bay to act as my ground plane, and with this antenna, Houston to Chicago on 4w AM and 12w SSB is NO PROBLEM. Walks on lesser antennas running small linears all day long. The drawbacks are that it hits low branches, bridges, and bruger joint drive throughs, and it requires a very sturdy mount. But the pros are soooo worth it.
Comments about RadioShack 102" Stainless Steel Whip Element for CB Antenna:
I am on my 4th Radio Shack Stainless Steel 102" and about to buy my 5th. I discovered these antennas in the 1980s and have run them on all my vehicles since them. Tuning has never been a problem. Without mount problems, SWR has ALWAYS dropped into the 1.1 to 1.3 range on 11m. I have given two of these that have been bent by trees to a ham friend of mine who straightened them out, and reports 1.1 SWR on the low side of 10M, 1.5 on the high side of 12M. Good band coverage, and GREAT signal both TX and RX. The only drawbacks I know of is the antenna is a bit unforgiving on mounts. You HAVE to have a sturdy mount as this thing puts a LOT of stress on them. And low hanging trees, or low flying birds are in serious danger. Not to mention the wonderful looks I get from the kids working at the burger joint drive through. I have tried antenna designs all the way from bottom loaded mag mounts, to center loaded coil jobs you see the highwatt guys running. My RX and TX simply don't get any better with ANY mobile antenna design. Not bad for unobtrusive base installations either. Certainly less funky than a big Yagi...

This antenna beat Wilson and K40. I spoke to their techs. For the money especially with a pick up truck I get out and have talked all over the country on this one.

Ive had this antenna for about a year now. I Got it about an hour before church and mounted it to the left side of my bumper. It Works great with the radio i have! I can talk from pinellas park all the way to the skyway, about a 45 min drive and hear them perfectly. If you have a great radio, and a cheap antenna i would reccomend this antenna! -Micah

I have these antennas mounted on top of my semi mirrors on my f150. They stand up a total of about 16feet off the ground. They hit everything, but with the barrel springs they bounce right back up. GREAT PRODUCT.

This is the absolute best cb/ham/freeband antenna made! more gain than any leading competitor forget coils this thing is 1/2 wave no ciols neccesary! I run the Radio Shack 102 inch whip antenna on a 1997 Grand Am. for ham radio with a sgc 237 inline. On 10 to 80 meters, antenna works out great!

This is the best CB antenna I have ever owned. It works really well on HF to. I mounted this antenna on the roof of my house bout 40 feet off the ground. I get about a 15 mile range with 8 watts of power and when the band is open and I am on SSB, I can sometimes talk out of state! Like I said, this is the best CB antenna I have ever owned!

I mounted this antenna on my conversion van. I use it only when stationary because of height but when I sit on a hill I can send and recieve up to 200 miles away. When skip come in there's almost no limit to the distance for send and recieve.
